Loneliness is a most crowded place,
brimming with all I must now face,
while I sit here in silence alone,
haunted by these sins I must atone.
For I lived a life of careless ease,
daring whatever I dared to please,
turning each lie into some truth,
fading echoes of wasted youth.
On this solitary path, I did search
for what lies beyond this hollow perch,
what hope can rise from deep despair
when the gravity of nothing is laid bare.
Words spill out before this break of day,
in ink that stains all colors to gray,
as I struggle to somehow understand
both fathomless ocean and shifting sand.
Each distilled tear draws me near,
to the edge of all I still fear,
distills all of this bitter most longing,
in the hope of finding any belonging.
