When Moses brought back that holy strand,
he brought it, shedding light in the dark:
That fire became the haven of his-
in the courtroom and city of the heathens.
O Moses, where have thou left that holy strand?
Look, thine followers strive to find it;
they have sought it across the lands and seas,
and have found it, burning peacefully on Sinai.
They have brought it back-
And have ignited that haven with flame.
The olive tree has caught that flame Moses,
It burns, waiting for thee to return.
People gather around it, eagerly wait-
O where the Almighty\'s voice is?
O Moses, He does not speak.
O son of the Nile, shan\'t thou ask-
The sons of Paran and Nazareth inquire-
Shan\'t thou ask those with the strand:
Why have they burnt God\'s Torah and land?
