Death\'s Last Wish

\"What’s your last wish?\"
Death asked the girl curled up in a dark corner.

\"Mother. I want a mother,\" she whispered through tears.

\"You have one...\" Death kneeled gently beside her.

\"No,\" she said, her voice trembling.
**\"I want a real mother.
One who loves me like a child,
Like a human, not a prize.
Not one who calls me a slut,
But sings me lullabies to sleep.
Not one who strikes me with belts for disobedience,
But holds my hand when I’m scared.

I want a mother
Who doesn’t just carry me in her womb,
But in her heart—forever.
A mother who doesn’t wish me dead,
But panics at the thought of losing me.
I want a mother…
Just not like the one I have.\"**
She sobbed into her knees.

Death paused.
And then whispered,
\"Me too...\"
