The Sorrow in Your Eyes

Tonight, the love\'s truest spirit touched my afflicted heart,

When a shadow of my former self dimmed the vigor\'s light,

My pride was raised like a flag, now in the dirt, torn apart,

Feared upon seeing a cloud of mine pass over your sight.

When my heart overflowed with intense silent emotion,

No gratitude was offered, your gentle warmth left unpraised,

Apologies unsaid, your eyes mirrored my demotion,

A burst of ebullient feelings to share, yet quickly razed.

When a sudden conflict broke on my own mind\'s rough terrain,

A simpleton\'s facade then cloaked my knowing august sage,

My Instinct-guided actions demanded words to explain,

Yet I played the fool, not to turn your comfort\'s bright page.

Breathed voice into my poems, revealing a secret tryst,

My feelings\' apex caught the moonlight as you held my art,

Your role, l’intérêt amoureux, stay veiled in the tale\'s mist,

Not to coax your eyes, if closed is intention of your heart.

When my bare heart was drowning in the restless seas for you,

Gone are the nights when Polaris echoed your glowing smile,

The sorrow in your eyes divulged you felt my aching too,

Yet knew you couldn\'t rescue me, even just for a while.

You\'re the gravity that grounds the homeland I had to free,

My feelings urged me onward, to release myself and more,

To bring you peace, I drift away by the sea endlessly,

Contrary to my purpose, fading from your distant shore.

True love, when I quenched the blaze of my tale, the dearest one,

Buried self beneath the ache of slow oblivion\'s run,

So not to behold the sorrow your silent gaze had spun,

Those kind eyes thought of saving me, yet nothing could be done.
