I waited for you
By the old boats
Now sculptures
To death
Upturned in sorrow
Salt smelling skeletons
Wood split paint flaking
Tears dried.
The kelp on the shore
Lighter and discoloured
Waves returning to kiss
But gently
As a mother
To a beloved son
Sunshine glinting
Upon their rhythmic dance.
The ships horn
Distant to the sea
Telling tales to teacher
A mischevious child
Set free and sailing
Away from home
To who knows where
As I waited for you.
