we send fragments of our own pain
into the silence of the starless dark
where gravity cannot grip its claws
where tumors float like ghostly whispers
we wonder what the stars will learn
holding our ache in their cold hands
will the experiments find an answer
in the void we fear to fully enter
how strange to rely on the cosmos
to decipher a disease born of earth
artificial organs contain real questions
what makes a body betray itself
perhaps space will give back nothing
simply mirrors reflecting our own frailty
or perhaps it will gift us time
to love the world that still holds us
