Dreams beyond the cage

When i was a child, I dreamed every night,
Of places far off, all shiny and bright.
I wanted to run, to dance in the street,
But locked in a cage, I stayed in my seat.

Maybe the kids who came after me
will see the Eiffel and feel truly free.
They took my voice, they silenced my name,
My dreams in a bag, now covered in shame.

They say i\'m selfish for wanting to go,
They gave me the world, but not my own glow.
I dreamed of the stars, The lights in the sky,
Now i sit quiet, just asking why.

I wanted to shine, To be on a screen,
To walk on red carpets, To live like a queen.
A golden award, I\'d hold it so high,
My story in sparkle, My tears finally dry.

Maybe i\'ll study, Go get that degree,
Be the best lawyer that i can be.
Even if my heart feels broken and cold,
I\'ll fight for the truth, I\'ll be strong and bold.

My family will cheer for all that I do,
Though my body\'s in court, my mind slips through.
To a beach in Greece at the break of day,
With the sun on my skin, I drift away.
Dancing at dawn, with peace deep inside,
Where joy doesn\'t hide, and dreams can reside.
