Maybe It’s Time

They say we’re breaking what they built,
By daring now to think and feel—
By casting votes for something new,
For voices raw, for truths more real.

They scold us with their furrowed brows,
These architects of empty talk,
For choosing paths that don’t align
With power\'s well-worn party walk.

But we are not their errant flock,
We’ve lived the weight their words forgot.
The promised rise, the shifting tide—
Still waiting, still we get it not.

They speak of change, yet stand so still,
Point fingers out but never in.
And when we ask for something more,
They say our choices are the sin.

But maybe it is time they learn
That “representation” starts with trust—
Not from the top, but from the ground,
From listening, not ruling us.

Maybe it’s time they canvassed hearts,
Not wallets fat with donor gold.
Maybe it’s time they stopped the scripts
And answered what the people told.

Maybe it’s time they dropped the blame,
And held the mirror to their face—
Would they, in truth, vote for themselves
To lead us forward into grace?

Maybe it’s time they earned their place,
Not just assumed we’d fall in line.
We’re not the problem. We’re the proof—
That maybe it is their turn to realign.
