Today calls for a feast,
Of an academic Mentor,
A man whose intellectual wits
has mentored many.
A father figure,
Calm like a dove,
Soft hearted like mother-hen,
A Professor of African Literature.
Today we rejoice with him,
Through him many poets were born,
He nurtures and nurses heads,
His poetic disciples stoop to conquer.
On this auspicious day,
We celebrate his Birthday,
In prayers his mentees wish him well,
Live long like Methuselah.
