It just wasn’t our day!
Twelve people in the tournament
Playing the game we love.
Onto the croquet lawns we went,
Nine women and three men.
Two blocks of six,
Five matches each we played.
My first match was against a man,
Which I won,
A great start to the day.
Then I lost to one of the ladies,
Then lost to another,
Managed to beat the third,
But then lost to the fourth.
The other two men were the same,
Losing their matches
Against the ladies,
The blocks were finished
Then we each had to play,
Had to play our opponent,
Opponent in each block,
Those who were in the same position,
Same position in each block.
I played another lady
As did the other men,
We all lost again.
It just wasn’t our day,
As it was obviously, Ladies Day.
