Breath Between Us

I do not sing on my own—
I wait, hollow and still,
carved by time and shaped by silence.
But when your breath finds me—
gentle or fierce,
uncertain or bold—
I become song.

We are not two,
but the moment of joining:
your current, my curve,
your motion, my waiting.

You do not command me.
I do not control you.
Together, we vanish
into what is heard—
a harmony only born
when neither leads
and both listen.
