And The Band Played.

And the bands played,

Played in glorious joy

Bringing beauty to my heart.

Each band was different

Bringing different sounds

By the way that each band played.

Such a glorious day listening,

Listening to the brass bands.

Every year I go there,

Go to the Brass Band Festival

And am always given such pleasure,

Sad as well.

Some tunes bring memories,

Memories of times passed

When my wife and I went,

Went to the Brass Band Day.

Then I was in tears

The song they played was her song,

They played Misty,

It was played at her funeral,

Johnny Mathis sang

And Joyce was there beside me,

She then walked ahead of me

Towards heaven’s gate.

The brass band played it

And she was there again,

There beside me once more,

And the band played.
