When I was young things were excitable,
most things were new and delight able.
Amazed eyes took in new visuals,
intent ears took in new audibles.
Before I was a young man in teens,
and walked around in ripped jeans,
I feared the darkened nights.
Mystery sounds gave me frights.
But you were always there my mother,
for me, my sister, and my brother.
You were the families strong tassel.
You were our shield, sword, and our castle.
I miss those times protected view.
I miss those times spent with you.
Then there was the rest,
there for worst and best.
I miss you.
