The Loss of Sarah

On June 10, 2023, my friend Sarah\'s life took a profound turn. Sarah was an extraordinary individual, embodying kindness and compassion, always prioritizing the needs of others. After losing her husband of 50 years, Sarah found herself without family and with few friends - maybe three, including me and two others. She often spoke about two friends she loved and cared about deeply, and that summer was different, as those two friends walked out of her life, each citing her behavior as \'inappropriate.\' Sarah never grasped what they meant, as her behavior and demeanor were always exemplary. She had always nurtured them and treated them like loved ones. After they left, she was treated like a pariah, and she never understood why. From that day forward, Sarah began to experience panic attacks and nightmares, which persisted for three years. Despite this, she has shown remarkable resilience, becoming quiet and withdrawn, yet still holding onto hope. I feel like I\'ve lost my best friend forever, but I remain inspired by her strength. Sarah has become increasingly reclusive, rarely leaving her house and hiding from the world. I occasionally catch glimpses of her at night, throwing out the garbage or driving her car around the block. The kindest woman you would ever want to meet has become withdrawn from the world, yet her story serves as a testament to the human spirit\'s capacity for survival and hope. My heart swells with compassion for her, and I remain committed to being a source of support and inspiration in her life.
