Unwept Goodbye

The autumn leaves will softly fall, No tear will stain a grieving face, The robin sing his usual call, As if I\'d left no empty space.

They gather \'round my grassy plot, With casual talk and quiet laugh, As if a picnic they had got, No broken heart, no tearful path.

No deep regret, no aching plea, On faces calm, so strangely mild, It seems they\'re just accustomed, free, Like I was but a fleeting child.

The river keeps its steady flow, The clouds drift by in endless sky, No change upon the earth below, As though I\'d never lived or died.

They stand because they simply must, A ritual performed with grace, Not out of love, or solemn trust, But to fill up an empty space.

For I was but a weary soul, A girl consumed by silent pain, Who longed to reach a destined goal, To break the bitter, binding chain.

No sorrow mark this final sleep, No mournful cry, no whispered dread, Just quiet earth, where secrets keep, And peace descends upon my head.

The suffering will fade away, The heavy burden I once bore, And dawn will break a brand new day, Where pain can touch my heart no more.

So let the blossoms softly bloom, And birds still sing their gentle tune, My grave will hold no trace of gloom, Beneath the sun, or silent moon.

The world will turn, a steady pace, The seasons shift, as they have done, No tear for me, no empty space, My journey\'s ended, peace has won.
