Sober Sun (A Town Shanty)

George Best’s desire, I danced in rain,

filled with faces, I couldn’t blame,

fun old teacher, fell down the stairs,

at grotty club, as siren blared,

Refreshing sleep, removed the show,

the laughs inside began to glow, for –

They don’t know me, in sober Sun,

where mountain high, is never won,

but, instead, a ready one,

when I walk, in sober Sun!

Her hand too close, to inches pride,

she stole my hat, to confide,

then couples fought, heel and hand,

after bag of whited sand,

Refreshing sleep, removed the show,

the laughs inside began to glow, for –

They don’t know me, in sober Sun,

where mountain high, is never won,

but, instead, a ready one,

when I walk, in sober Sun!

Extended kin, monsters ball,

mighty angels, when we crawled,

then little cups, were on parade,

every taste, was in the shade,

Refreshing sleep, removed the show,

the laughs inside began to glow, for –

They don’t know me, in sober Sun,

where mountain high, is never won,

but, instead, a ready one,

when I walk, in sober Sun!

Then such words, were said aloud,

their ignorance, familiar crowd,

drunken stupor, popularism,

gave a mutual aneurysm, thus,

Endless sleep, removed the show,

the laughs inside could not grow –

They didn’t know me, in sober Sun,

where mountain high, was never won,

but, instead, a steady one,

when I died, in sober Sun!
