Tariffs and Tantrums

Leader of a powerful nation

In a bid to be  a champion

Not for public  good intention

Visibly for personal  ambition

Levies the tariffs apparently random

Fifty,  hundred and more for some.

Friends and foes the fuzzy line drawn

Crazy numbers and cranky ideas

The arithmetic gambling has its woes

Has put diplomacy now on its toes

Quite a showman  to be in limelight

Takes a step forward two steps backward.

World is home to  eight  billion and more

Nearly two hundred nations galore

Political and economic boundaries

are here to remain, the amity faded

acrimony  between nations has raised.

when economic hegemony  is prime target

Green energy and climate change take back seat

Reason, logic are the victims for one man’s whims

Provokes nations and pits one against other

Pretends to be a global peacemaker

Hunts awards  and  hits the headline

Guess how future will judge his timeline
