Elite and the destitute

The human society, since long indeed

Known for its prejudice to  divide

On the notion of privileged  and  deprived,

Now ensures that the horizon  gets expanded

Even to  fellow living beings unequivocally.

The concept of haves and have- nots,

Has now  gone beyond to non-humans

The dogs too suffer  unfair discrimination

Not by  puppy’s choice, but by harsh domination

Shaped by their  masters  and their obsession.

Some  pets in palatial houses, classy castles

And some  in gated community dazzles

Showered with   love, fondle  and care

zooming  through in sleek luxury cars

alongside  their zoophilist the elite class.

Others, majority condemned to street

Left to roam wildly, growl  and bark

Few turned ferocious and quick to attack

The children elders, the joggers, and walkers

wandering on  the roads, haunting  commuters.

Animal lovers the activist’s fondness for pets

But find no  answers for menace of street dogs

Keep  espousing humane approach to strays

With no sympathies to fellow human’s  cries

The destitute have to make livelihood on streets

And  painfully bear the brunt of dog bites.
