A Lighthouse

On a rocky hill near the outskirts,

Lies a lighthouse that used to guide.

The system in it hardly worked,

It never could help sailors at sea.

When it was first built years ago,

It lead one ship to crash into the pier,

And then another ship had sailed

A completely different way.

The light was barely helping anyone.

But then another ship came all worn

And barely seen through a mist of fog,

The lighthouse didn’t even turn on.

All these ships the light was supposed to help

Just lead them to drive themselves insane.

People never knew why this lighthouse was built

If it wasn’t going to serve its role.

That lighthouse must have been fifty years old,

Sailors thought it would never shine again.

But one day, a new, young sailor came by.

Suddenly, the lighthouse beamed through,

And showed that pioneer what it was made for.

All the wreckages before sunk even further

When they realised the lighthouse had chosen

Who it wanted to guide in life.
