Fixed gaze at the painting,
something held her in thrall.
Her eyes told something moved;
the cuboid face
started to speak,
the snake uncoiled.
Screamed,
a howl to be saved,
from imminent bite.
Cuboid face laughed,
a mirthless laugh.
She screamed-
not knowing
what frightened her.
Pitch dark city,
bathed in neon lights.
Illuminated arranged scenes;
drowned reality in its glare.
She screamed-
lost her reality.
But, then felt a kick
in her belly.
She calmed down.
Placed hands on her bump
and found her reality-
she would be a mom.
The baby resided inside,
yet, the mother stepped out.
Cuboid dread suspended.
Picture snake still hiss,
yet no bite.
Made up scenes lit up;
yet, they no longer had her.
