Paul Gerard Reed

Willing Workhorse

The willing workhorse

Never complains,

Never tells you

Of his pains;

Never a task

Avoid or shirk,

Just adds it to his burden,

Carries on with his work;

Follows his devoted path

His loyal road,

Carries on pulling the plough

His heavy load;

Then, quietly, in the evening

His sweat all poured,

Lies down and rests his bones

As his sole reward.
