Out onto the field they came,
Thirty ladies ready to play,
Fifteen against fifteen,
Playing the game I have watched,
Watched all my life,
Watching men play,
But ladies play it now
And it is wonderful to watch.
The match was superb,
Knocking hell out of each other
As they tried to get the oval ball over the line.
So fast and so delicate as well
As the ball went from player to player.
A game that showed me the joy,
The joy of watching rugby.
A game of honour and decency
In spite of the tackles made,
And the power of the ladies.
And after watching the game
A joy was felt by the winners,
And to my mind came the thought,
Showing their strength and power
I wouldn’t arque with them!
