Poet\'s Dream

from afar

I look from afar

At you

You are too far

You are too close

Your eyes are the ocean when the sun rises

Icy glaciers and piercing blue skies

Why?

Why do I stand and watch you from over here?

Why can\'t I get close, get near?

Would you ever let me in your atmosphere?

Smile, quicker than a flea

Please don\'t let it flee

I yearn for, if ever, you\'ll smile at me

I admire you

I have for too long

Written poem and song

It\'s embarrassing, I know

Pathetic at most

On the cross-country team

Tall and lean

I run behind you, do you notice me there?

I\'ve become acquainted with the sound of your breath

The rhythm of your stride

When you pass me by

I know which side to go to

When you pass me by

Will this feeling pass me by?

I wish to run at your side

Most likely will never

Only can dream

Speaking of dreams

I don\'t want to sound like a creep

But you\'re in my thoughts when I sleep

I dream that you hold my hand

I dream we run on roads, trails, beaches of white sand

I dream you look at me, notice me here and there and everywhere

I dream you smile, genuine and pure

I dream you laugh, laugh like I\'m funny and I\'ll laugh because you\'re happy

I dream I rest my head on your shoulder and you rest your head on mine

I dream you share your worries, burdens, goals, happiness, sadness, everything

I could tell you this all

I might nosedive

I don\'t think you know

Do you even know I\'m alive?

For now, though, all I can do is look

Look out for you, in little ways I do

From afar
