Friendship

I\'m just finished.

I\'m just finished.
The heavy breath I didn\'t know I held,
Released into the quiet air, unspelled.
A sudden stillness where my muscles cease
Their silent argument for more, for peace.
The last grain falling through the hourglass throat,
A final, fragile, barely whispered note.

The long road walked, the summit gained or lost,
The hidden, silent, unrecorded cost
Of every step, each burden bravely borne.
Now, stripped of effort, weary and outworn,
The striving stops. The purpose now undone.
No more to do beneath the setting sun.

A strange, profound, unburdened liberty,
An empty vessel, yet completely free.
No onward pull, no future to command.
Just quiet dust across an open hand.
The mind, a calm lake where the ripples die,
Reflecting back an unexpected sky.

I\'m just finished. Not undone, but done.
The tapestry complete, the battle won
Or simply yielded, with a soft accord.
No need for triumph, no desire for reward.
Just the deep peace of knowing, clear and true,
There is no longer anything left to do.
