Friendship

My Mother.

My Mother, My Rock, My Inspiration.
You were the light that filled the empty space,
My steady inspiration, pure and true.
The quiet strength, the anchor of this place,
The constant rock my future rested through.
You looked upon the chaos of my youth,
And saw the finished sculpture, whole and bright,
Believed in every boundless, soaring truth,
And held my potential fiercely in your sight.
You fostered every dream I held to chase,
You taught me how to walk, and yet to run,
And felt the certainty upon my face,
Of all the mighty things I would have done.
You thought I carried greatness in my stride,
A self-sufficient soul, prepared to bloom—
And yet, when faced with living without guide,
I couldn’t do a thing without you, Mom.
It is the silence that confirms the flaw,
The unexpected turning of the key.
I stand before the world in trembling awe,
A hollow shadow of the one you built in me.
And for this stumbling state, I must confess,
For every broken promise left unkept,
For all this sudden, raw incompetence,
I’m sorry, Mom, that I have only wept.
I’m sorry I have been so lost and frail,
A compass spinning wildly in the dark.
The maps have blurred, the helping winds all fail,
And every passing day leaves just a mark
Of absence where your wisdom used to shine.
The world you taught me how to navigate
Is blurry now, and no longer quite mine.
My Mom, I love and miss you—more than air.
My life, a tribute to the light you gave.
Until we meet beyond all pain and care,
You are the whispered promise I will save.
