SNOWFLAKES

They come along, frail and pretty,
beautiful in light of day,
branching beams, a complex structure,
but snowflakes melt away

They seem that they’ll be here forever,
a white world meant to stay,
but knowledge knows their time is fleeting,
snowflakes melt away

And what at first seemed ever-pleasant
will send people astray,
with sliding wheels we all do cry
“Snowflakes, melt away!”

The heat shall grow, so shall the anger,
no longer willing to play,
and all will smile and greet the sun
when snowflakes melt away…
