Simple Tendencies

Sitting on an A/C unit in Spring

All of my family snuggle

Into the folds of my heart

Where they dream of joy

And love, and things that aren\'t

Pulling splinters from my crown

And pick my canines with them

My hands shake from the drugs

So I bleed ruination on my gums

I know you\'re out there, God

Even in the dark.

Please tell me I didn\'t do this.

Please tell me getting better

Doesn\'t hurt others the way

That they hurt me.

My family lived in my heart

But I don\'t know where they are now.

And the winters coming in the South.

Maybe it\'s time I learned to shovel snow.
