When the Darkness Comes

When the darkness comes, you\'re home - yet not near,
Shadows in your room - of two. Who is here?
I\'m lying in my bed, in sheets ensnared, entangled,
By the rustling noise - your voice - I\'m startled.
Predatory scent - I\'m scared, I want to flee,
But I\'m stuck and trapped, my heart - it starts to bleed.
Then you come to rest - my chest untightens,
And the daybreak comes, it dawns, brings brightness.
Gone is feral fright, the night, the creeping gloom,
When you lay your head - instead, I am in bloom.
