Saddle Me a Mum to Thee

Scared was she, hath she made her bed,

For she was too young to bear him

Into his eyes, she gently glared,

And sang a soft, silly song to soothe him

“Saddle me a mum to thee,

And thou shall see, so steady

With an angel’s wing, unto you I’ll sing,

I’ll breathe of earth’s lullaby, my baby”

As time passed forth in the public square,

Young Mary bared her baby

With a soft sound, she glanced around,

And sang a soft, silly song to soothe him

“I pray to thee on a sapling’s tide,

For no man’s hurt upon thee

I pray to you, my Lord, my friend,

Save some soul for Georgie”

“Saddle me a mum to thee,

Let my heart ascend from my body,”

For who be stood of the words she spoke,

With a tear stained smile, young Georgie

With a pretty face, and silk soft skin

With a hand so soft, she’s shaking,

“For how a babe, O a maid as you,

Would see something within me?”

Despite her young age, in the public square,

Young Mary bared her baby

“With an angel’s wing, unto you I’ll sing,

Save some soul for Georgie”
