Karoline

Mormor

Through this life
I have stumbled,
Knowing pain,
But none like this.
Heart cleaved,
Mind broken,
Watching you wither
Right before my eyes.

I do not eat,
My sleep arriving in fitful bursts
Nightmares waking me
In a cold sweat.
My fragile heart
Consumed by fear
Of a world without your smile,
The smell of lapper,

A quiet hum from across the room.
