GIVE THEM WINGS TO FLY, AND WILL TO TRY

Giving is not the clink of coins,

Nor the palm over palm with alms.

It’s seeing and feeling someone else’s need,

So that their own family they can feed.

I once saw a child on the pavement,

Staring at people with lament.

Battered clothes, her eyes spoke more,

Than words that rarely left her core.

A man passed by, with pockets heavy,

Dropped a penny, then walked away like many.

The sound was sharp against the sidewalk,

But she sat there still for more to mock.

Then came a woman, tired but kind,

With nothing much to spare.

She knelt besides the sweet little child,

And brushed her tangled hair.

Her bread she shared, her gentle warmth,

Worth more than coins could buy.

Somehow even though little she gave,

Gave the girl a reason to try.

Giving is not the clink of coins,

Nor the pride of a generous show.

The coin may end a moment’s grief,

But it’s kindness that sows belief.

Giving is not just about making a donation, it’s about making a difference.
