Corn stalker

At the crossroads, Old Nick he met, a contract signed in blood and devil sweat

In a deal forbade, his heart he would trade for gold and the hand of a winsome maid

So quickly a year did pass, gold spent, used, abused and dead the young lass

Time came to pay the deal, in a corn field appeared Lucifer with deed and seal

He took his heart, burnt out his eyes, severed his tongue so it\'d tell no lies

His dead enslaved girl sat on a post, devoured his eyes and tongue did roast

With a butcher knife his skin she peeled and left his bones in the old corn field

They say at night, when the cold breeze blows you can hear him walking through the rows

His footsteps you can hear soon after dusk, treading lightly on the dried corn husk

In the dark, under clouded skies, from dirt his bones raise, searching for a heart, tongue and eyes

A corpse, worm eaten, bloated and swollen, he searches for what from him was stolen

To any wanderer at night going past, to your eyes, heart and tongue hold fast

Inch by inch he\'ll rip off your skin, leaving only raw meat where it had been

For in his blindness he\'ll snatch organs out, planting a kernel of corn in their place to sprout

If you listen closely it is not the moaning of the wind but the groaning of a man that sinned
