Slowly, walking on the path,
My River slowly sliding by.
The chill of the breeze
Disturbing the calm,
Causing ripples to run by my side.
The rippling mirroring
The thoughts within my mind.
The pools of stillness
Where the wind doesn’t reach,
That echo the oases of calm within me.
The calmness coming over me
As my walk takes me further
Into the natural world,
Away from the traffics noise.
All is now quiet,
Just the sounds of the birds
Accompanying my thoughts.
A robin flying by my side
Sharing my path to peace.
That peace now restored,
Restored for the moment.
As I return I look across My River
To see a graveyard, so recently visited.
The place where my friend now lays,
Free from the concerns of this world
And communing with his beloved Hardy.
I stop and think of Malcolm
And his gentle poetic ways.
I move on and slowly return
To a different reality.
The traffics noise getting louder.
The ripples returning on My River,
And in my mind.
Back to the real world
But knowing that My River
Will always be there for me;
To give solace in my life.
