The Long Road

I took the longer road
Round lingering times we shared
To know your warming touch
To catch your longing stare

Now searching countless miles
Through all that was so dear
To hold your fearless hand
To seek you everywhere

The Sun and Moon, so cold
There is no essence here

And if I fight this less
This road will disappear

My heart, all light eclipsed
A ghost in my own life
My haunting, needful wish
To warn of endless nights

This never ending road
Don’t pause, don’t look around
Nor let my mind e’r hear
One single, heartfelt sound

Press on, don’t ever stop
Don’t yield, and ebb to find
The fading of such light
Of all you’ve left behind

The long road awaits me, unfamiliar now
It beckons, as I struggle against it
My clouded vision hinders, and yet I glimpse you
In the breaths between moments
