Mitchell: Man, Lover (Edited version)

It started with Kate, who lay low undercover,

Still stood, with her heart in her head

Up at Phil, she smiled, she did taint him,

As beside him, she slept sound in his bed

Seductively, she induced erosion,

He fell first into her loving arms

Phil would later marry Kate Morton,

Nothing of her had rung an alarm

Phil found the speaker in her jacket,

Fell apart,

As he looked into her pleading eyes

He couldn’t believe he fell for a copper,

Kate loved him, as she kept up the fight

“Please Phil,” said she, “Please forgive me,”

“I love you,” said she with a plea

She gave up her job as a copper,

As soon as she bent down and said, “Marry me, please”

Phil, with a grunt, shoved her into a wall,

His fist was pressed tight and rough,

To her throat

A desperate cry then escaped Kate’s lips,

“Please Phil, don’t leave me”

Alone

“Please Phil,” said she, “Please forgive me,”

“I love you,” said she with a plea

She gave up her job because she loved him,

As she bent down and said,

“Marry me, please”

Kate still loved Phil, he was her everything,

He held her, she fell for his eyes

“Please Phil,” said she, “please forgive me,”

She bent down on one knee…

“I promise to believe your lies”
