Men are cast as sharks in the social sea,
with teeth of dominance, and fins of fear.
They circle the waters, eating up the fishes
yet most of the blood in the tide is their own.
Devour each other in currents of expectation
thrashing against waves that drag them down
Aching gills pressed with the weight of water
Every strike leaves the ocean darker than before.
Solitary hunters collapsing in reefs of peril
drifting through trenches where light can\'t reach.
Abyss is the bliss sought in struggle.
Ocean floor littered with shattered canines.
Ropes of kelp and jagged wreckage
pull them beneath without a sound.
Dissolving in undertows with synthetic veins
Stripped of livers rich with life.
Predator for sure, yet prey to greater jaws.
Soon the ecosystem will stumble.
And troubled waters will be filled with dinosaurs.
