To the retirement home we went,
Our choir went there.
The residents were waiting,
We started to sing
And the enjoyment came to them
As they listened to us.
They smiled and sang with us,
Total enjoyment was there.
We finished our singing
Grateful thanks were given,
And then they treated us,
Treated us to mince pies,
Mince pies and mulled wine.
We then went to the pub
And sang there.
What a difference!
The staff barely spoke to us
And when we sang
So few applauded.
It was not a good place to sing
But we sang well,
And I had my pint,
Had my pint of Guiness,
So it wasn’t all bad.
