A Brand Plucked from the Fire
Riding religiously so
Every person receives
Voluminous vitality,
Especially the poor.
Render unto God
Everything. Give.
Never be deterred;
Don’t restrict renewal.
Jesus was rejected too,
Ostracized—in the field—for
Hanging with sinners,
Not pious holy-rollers.
Without grace,
Everyone is damned;
Salvation is for all.
Let the Spirit burn
Every heart to
Yearn that assurance.
Poet’s Note:
A Scorched Sunday poem. A part of my Scorched Strays series, an acrostic reflecting John Wesley’s life after the Church barred its doors to him — a preacher driven into the fields, aflame with grace wider than the system could bear.
