If The Whole Body Were An Eye

If the whole body were an eye,

Round and rolling beneath the sky,

Where would the ears reside, oh my?

Behind the lashes? Beneath a sigh?

Would they hide in a blink’s embrace,

Or perch atop, a mirrored face?

Would whispers tickle the optic rows,

And songs be heard where vision goes?

Perhaps the cornea would hum in tune,

And echo laughter by the moon.

Or sound would shimmer through a tear,

Catching melodies sharp and clear.

If sight held hands with hearing\'s might,

Would thunder dance with beams of light?

Oh, how peculiar it all could grow,

If ears and eyes switched the roles they know.
