Elegance.

I was walking along the path

When I saw him, passed him,

This gentleman.

A man of many years,

A man that to look at him

Took me back in time.

He stood up straight

Without any effort,

A trilby place on his head

Collar and tie, of course,

Grey trousers,

Smartly polished black shoes,

And an elegant tan overcoat,

I assumed the coat

Would conceal a suit.

This took me back

To when many men

Were dressed like this,

This was the norm.

Even I wore a suit,

Collar and tie for work

Way back then.

But that sort of dress has disappeared,

And as I watched this gentleman pass

I wondered,

Is there something

In this natural daily elegance,

That we have now lost.
