Tune: Song 34
(\'Forth in thy name, O Lord I go\')
Psalm 8
**********
O Lord, our Lord, how excellent
Your name to us that you present
Excellent in all the earth, you
Set glory above heavens true!
Out of mouth of babes and infants
You have perfected praise, good sense
Praise you have ordained as strength so
Vict\'ry o\'er enemies we know
When I consider the heavens
The work that your fingers attends
The moon and stars, which you ordained
What is man? What you from him gained?
For what is man, that you do mind
Him? Seek him out, and do him find?
What are children of men, that you
Visit and care for them, you do?
For you have made man a little
Lower than angels, crowned him all
With glory and honour, him made
To rule over your works displayed
In care-taking role, oxen, sheep
Beasts, birds, and fish, them for to keep
To be diligent, O Lord, how
Excellent still your name is now!
