Where Stillness Breathes

The deer does not ask
the meadow to bloom—
it simply steps softly,
and the flowers respond.

No border drawn, no name declared,
just hooves among hush
and wind through green.

I used to rush—
fill every silence,
prove my place.
Now I see:
there is peace in being
without needing.

Kelli and I, in the hush of dusk,
sit on our back porch
watching nothing in particular,
and everything that matters.

I’ve learned from the deer—
move gently, love widely,
and the world will hold you
without needing to understand you.
