My ol’ hometown
Dear Sandusky
On the south shore
of Lake Erie
Saint Mary’s church
a few doors to
my ol’ house
a short walk to
gorgeous gardens
around the the big clock
Boy & the Boot fountain
standing proudly
Memories of neighbors
walking about
without fear of the world
without fear of hate
Memories of walking
lovingly with my mother
past the picturesque
downtown
Woolworth’s
Gray Drugs
Even JCPenney’s
A stop for a candy bar
Down to the ferry
to Cedar Point
Waves of bluish green
on the round trip ride
across the Great Lake
Hand in hand with Mom
Watching the seagulls fly
A place of peace
where my dreams lie
