In my life I have a past,
It made me who I am.
I have no regrets
I wouldn’t change a thing,
I don’t live there anymore.
Yet memories linger in the quiet night,
Soft echoes of a time now left behind,
Mistakes and lessons shining faint but bright,
Shaping my heart and patterning my mind.
I have travelled roads both shadowed and fair,
Found hope in sorrow, laughter in my pain,
Though ghosts may call, I do not tarry there,
The present’s sun now dries the old, cold rain.
With every dawn, I carve a path anew,
The future’s promise glimmers in my sight,
For though my story started with that view,
Today I walk in my own chosen light.
The past’s embrace has opened wide the door—
I thank it kindly, but I live once more.
