Upon the world, so many yearn for light,
To be the sun that warms another’s day.
Yet in the hush that follows fading bright,
The moon ascends to cast her gentle ray.
For splendour seeks the golden hours of cheer,
But shadows fall when hope is out of view.
Who then will rise when comfort’s not near,
And gift a tender glow the sun once knew?
O let me shine amidst the deepest gloom,
A beacon soft, steadfast in silent night.
Not brilliance fierce, nor glory to consume,
But silver solace, calm and pure and right.
So in your darkest hour I’ll appear,
The moon that stays when sunlight disappears.
