Gracious Goodness

Tune: Lancashire

(\'The day of resurrection\')

Psalm 92 v.1-5 and v.12-15

***********

It is a good thing to thanks give

To the Lord, He e\'er lives

And it is good to praises sing

To you, our heavenly King

You O most High rule over all

And hear us when we call

We shall declare you loving, kind

Merciful you we find

And too your faithfulness shall we

Confess, whate\'er time be

Whether it morning, noon, or night

On us has dawned your light

We shall bring forth our instruments

Play, make fine tunes, with sense

Of your presence, harmonious {1}

Be praise to you from us

For you, Lord, have made us glad through

Your works, you them renew

Through the workings of your hands we

Triumph, gain victory

O Lord, how great your works! They be {2}

Shown unto us clearly

And your thoughts they are very deep

Yet you your people keep

The righteous shall flourish as palms

Not fret by life\'s alarms

They shall grow like the cedar tree

In Lebanon, tall, free {3}

Those planted in the Lord\'s house, they

Shall flourish still, their days

Be fruitful even in old age

God their rock, [for] each life\'s page

{1} The original Bible verse has \'solemn\' but a margin reference says it can also mean \'harmonious\'.

{2} The exclamation mark is included in the original Bible verses at this point.

{3} Cedars of Lebanon are beautiful, huge trees, seen in this country too (in the UK anyway).
