Your Loved Self

The Holy command is to love your neighbour

In the very same way you love yourself.

But many a human heart has listened to lies,

Repeated the lies until they became a home,

Believing the whisper that we are not enough.

The Holy command is to love your neighbour

The same way you love yourself.

So, do take the time to love yourself—

Your crown of coils and your folds of flesh,

Your fine wrinkles and your tormented toes.

Love all of yourself, every hidden ache,

Not just the polished bits people see.

Take your time to yourself love,

For you are worthy of the time,

And worthily loved by your Maker.

The Holy command is to love your neighbour

The same way you love yourself.

Yet you cannot pour from an empty vessel,

Nor give of water you have never drank.

So love yourself until you are brim-full—

Love yourself until you are full of your loved self.
