I Should Be There

I should be there.

But I am here today

And tomorrow seems that way

I want to be there

Not to pick up my story

But to start building from where

I can just be me away

From encumbered titled glory

Of a past shattered by day

And shrouded in nightly tears

Not of fear but lost years

I should be there.

But I’m here today

And tomorrow seems that way

Decision to let go of this

Strange place that’s is somehow home

To pick up the shreds and gather

Them gently in my tattered silks

To there where under the grey clouds

I can dare again to step into my power

To reclaim all that is mine

Now scattered in storages and homes

That are not mine but have my stamp

Beautiful garments sitting in damp

Remembered but sequestered.

I should be there.

But I’m here today

But I will be there

Someday soon.
