The Game Over

Sitting crying over tonight,

This is the last night.

The last good night,

The last good morning,

The last I love you

The last kiss

The last touch

The last syllable

The last sight

The last of us.

I’m laid in your arms,

My heart ripping,

Tearing into your arms.

Calling out,

“Go be great,”

Knowing I’d be looking around.

But just a memory will be all I have.

Pouring the remembrance

Of our love into your lap.

Begging you to understand that,

I still love you,

But I know you aren’t mine.

Words tearing up the soil inside,

As I scream out mentally for my God,

“Your will be done, not mine.”

I have a jealous God,

And you were my Golden calf,

So Game Over,

Order must be restored.

Having a ceremony for grief,

As you delete my profile,

From your Xbox,

Like a Viking Funeral,

For what we could have been.
