Contrast

Sunset would be a tragedy
If sunrise wasn\'t certain
Photons waiting patiently
Behind nights curtain

A rose garden isn\'t beautiful
Without the contrast of weeds
Both blossom in unison
Unprejudicedly pollinated by the bees

The promenade ain\'t pretty
Without the contrast of the rotten pier
Melted ice cream attracting wasps
Children scattering in fear

Words are nimble
Words are quick
Words build verses and structures
Just like bricks
Words then weather like wisdom
In time, they turn to dust
Where there is Ironwork
There will be rust

Pleasure needs a counterweight
To teach the tongue its power
The sweet just aint as sweet
Unless you\'ve tasted the sour

It\'s too easy for a reader
To hand pick a love filled favourite verse
Instead of digesting the whole package
And experiencing writing unrehearsed

If some of my lyrics offend
Then I wish I could wave a magic wand
But I believe art should be uncensored
Our prettiest parts are the thorns

Words are nimble
Words are quick
Words build verses and structures
Just like bricks
Words then weather like wisdom
In time, they turn to dust
Where there is Ironwork
There will be rust
